Your child goes to bed at a reasonable hour. They seem tired. But they take forever to fall asleep, wake up grumpy and struggle to focus at school the next day.

The effects of disrupted sleep in children do not stay in the bedroom. They follow your child through their entire day.
Attention and concentration are among the first casualties. Research published in Pediatrics found that children with insufficient sleep showed measurably impaired working memory, attention span and processing speed, all of which directly affect their ability to learn and retain information at school (Gruber et al., 2012).
Emotional regulation is equally affected. A tired child is not simply a grumpy child.
